Our Grand Ireland Itinerary: Nights 8-11

This is the second part in a series of posts about our trip to Ireland.

Day 1 Itinerary

Day 3 Itinerary

Nights 8-11

Our first seven nights took us from Dublin to Trim to Northern Ireland to Donegal and then toward Galway.

Nights 8-11 took us to the Dingle Peninsula, through part of the Ring of Kerry then over to Cork.

Dingle

The Dingle Peninsula is stunning.  The road out on the peninsula offers some of the most stunning coastline you'll ever encounter.  Really something to see.

Sadly, our day was marred by fog so we did not see as much as we would have liked but still it was impressive.

On our drive we stopped to the see some Famine Cottages.  Interesting and poignant.  If you're in the area I recommend taking twenty minutes to see this.

Ring of Kerry

We didn't do it really.  Our host in Dingle told us the prettiest part was the Killarney National Forest then Kenmare and on to Bantry so that is what we did.  It was very pretty!

Later that day we stopped at a Toy Soldier Factory who echoed our earlier advisor by saying something that the Ring of Kerry was "...the same bush at every turn..."

However, our last night in Dublin we shared that advice with a younger Irish couple and they, very politely, did not concur with the two previous advices.

I'm not upset by not driving most of it and if we go back to Ireland I may try to include driving more of it but just wanted to share our experience.
